2. How to make money on Pinterest with affiliate links.

The second way to make money on Pinterest DIRECTLY is to make money on Pinterest using affiliate links.

This is also known as the affiliate marketing strategy.

Learning how to use affiliate marketing on Pinterest to make money can make a huge difference to your earning potential!

Again – there are 2 ways of doing this – with and without a blog.

WITH A BLOG

If you are new to affiliate marketing, it means that you recommend a product or service to visitors and when they do buy using your links, you earn a small commission at no extra cost to them.

In other words, you get rewarded by providing value and/or solving someone’s problem through a product or service.

First, let’s talk about how to make money on Pinterest by driving traffic to your blog posts that have affiliate links.

This has a dual benefit – not only do you earn with display ads on those blog posts but you can also earn for affiliate sales at the same time.

Here is real proof you can make money on Pinterest with affiliate links by starting a blog

So, far this month, I have made $1000+ from Pinterest using affiliate marketing.

I know it is quite less but at the time of writing this blog, the world was dealing with COVID 19 pandemic.

But, I have had months where I earned upwards of $5000 a month with affiliate marketing.

Here are a few screenshots –

I have made $7k+ with this affiliate program and this month alone, I have made $1000.

This is a screenshot from Jan 2020 (I stopped using this platform post jan). I made over $1000 in a single month.

All this income is from affiliate marketing!

This is all on how to make money with Pinterest and a blog.

How to make money on Pinterest without a blog

Till now, I talked about how you can make money on Pinterest with a blog.

I understand if you do not want to start a blog. You can still use other methods on. how to make money on Pinterest without a blog.

Here are 3 ways to achieve this!

1. How to use affiliate links on Pinterest without a blog or website

By now, you understand how to make money on Pinterest by driving traffic to a blog post with affiliate links.

But, you can start making money on Pinterest by using the affiliate directly into your Pinterest pin link.

This affiliate link will lead the Pinterest users straight to the product or service.

So, yes, you can make money with affiliate marketing on Pinterest even without a website or blog.

Before you get started with promoting any affiliate program, remember to check if they do dollow direct affiliate links on the platform. Some companies like Amazon do not.

So, research this before you plan to add any affiliate links to your pins that lead users directly to the product’s landing page.

If you are using the direct affiliate marketing link on Pinterest, be sure to disclose your affiliate relationship by using hashtags such as #affiliate or #affiliatelink in your pin description.

Best affiliate programs to use on Pinterest to make money online

Here’s my list of sites to join to get your affiliate links to use on Pinterest.

Magic Links – It is recommended by many but I have not used it personally. There is no requirement of a website and you get instant access to over 1000 shops and products.

ShareASale – ShareASale is one of the most popular affiliate marketing network that does not require a blog. There are tonnes of different programs to join, promote them on Pinterest and start making money on Pinterest.

Unlike Magic links, you will have to apply to retailers individually and they will have to approve you. However, you can search for ‘auto-approval’ merchants to speed things up. T&Cs may vary by retailer.

Ultimate Bundles is a company owned by bloggers who sell themed bundles at incredible discounts. They cover all the topics from homemaking, stay at home, work at home, productivity as well as essential oils bundle.

Some bundles only come out once a year, and some are evergreen. They are pretty popular on Pinterest and you can promote them without a blog.

In my experience they sell really well, since they’re such insane value for money!

Zazzle is the place to find cool gift ideas such as T shirts, tote bags and stationery.

Awin is a popular affiliate network that gives access to many different retailers. It is harder to get in without a website and you have to pay $5 to be a part of it which is returned to you after the first pay out is made to you.

2. How to pin on Pinterest for money by becoming a virtual assistant.

The second most popular way to make money on Pinterest is to become a Pinterest virtual assistant.

3. Market your own products on Pinterest to sell.

Similar to Etsy or Shopify, you can also sell your products and services on Pinterest for money.

Here are the following items you can sell that will help you make money on Pinterest:

  • courses
  • e-books
  • printables
  • furniture
  • home decor items
  • clothing and accessories

You can think of more products and services like consulting services on Pinterest etc.

You can also create pins with Canva and use affiliate marketing on Pinterest to sell other people’s products and services that will benefit your target audience.

Remember the first snapshot of my affiliate earnings? That is a product from an online entrepreneur!

4. Gain a skill from Pinterest and monetize it

This is an indirect way of making money on Pinterest.

Now, if you are familiar with the platform, you can search for any random stuff and find information on it.

You can learn a variety of new skills, like

  • How to decorate a cake
  • Build furniture
  • Make origami
  • How to decorate etc
  • You can start a podcast and monetize it
  • You can learn how to knit or crochet and sell hats, scarves, toys, etc.

A lot of them are marketable skills and can make excellent work at home career choices.

MAKE MONEY ON PINTEREST – SEASONED ACCOUNTS

Once you have mastered Pinterest and reached to a level of consistency (and lots of followers, views etc), you can think about a few more ways to monetize pinterest or make money on Pinterest

5. Sponsorships from promoting brands

Businesses are almost always looking for a cost efficient way to maket their products and services to their target audience.

Sponsorships have become popular because the ROI is high and you can make a lot of money with one sponsored post.

If you are able to show that you a Pinterest account in good standing with engaged followers who buy what you recommend, businesses will be ready to throw money to get you to work with them.

The amount they pay you will depend a lot on you niche and the following that you have. I see bloggers and pinners making thousands of dollars with sponsored content.

So, think outside the box. There are MANY brands and businesses you can go and ask for a sponsorship.

There are many opportunities for creating a partnership and earning money on Pinterest.

Pro tip: Target small businesses and upcoming brands. These are the people who really need an enagaged audience to spread awareness about their products. They also often don’t require the same traffic numbers as larger ones when it comes to sponsorship options.

6. Pinterest Consulting

The other way to make money with Pinterest is to offer Pinterest consulting.

The demand for quality Pinterest consulting is HIGH. When you build an account that can show what exactly you are doing, you can leverage that into selling your services as an expert on Pinterest

While some of your clients may only look for basic advice or want to get started with Pinterest, many others would want an in-depth look at their account or change things to optimise the results that they are getting.

Helping others optimise their Pinterest accounts and find more success is a great way to make money from Pinterest.

7. Teach Pinterest Strategies

This method of making money with Pinterest ties in to the one before.

You can make money with Pinterest by teaching effective strategies to individuals. Sometimes a person is only interested in knowing a few things as opposed to managing an account or consulting.

Being able to teach effective Pinterest strategies can be a great way to make money with Pinterest.

You can

  • Teach one-on-one through calls or Zoom
  • Create and sell an online course
  • Create and eBook etc

This is a great way to further monetize Pinterest using skills and knowledge you already have.

Tips for making money on Pinterest

While I have already recommended some amazing courses and resources for you to start learning pinterest and make money with it, there are some absolutely basic tips I want to give

Create eye catching pins

Pinterest is a visual search engine and that means, your pins need to be pretty and they need to stand out for people to click on it.

And if you’re trying to make money on Pinterest, then they definitely need to look professional.

The easiest way is to create images on a tool called Canva. It is completely free of cost and allow you to create digital images for all social media as well.

It is super easy to use and there are lot of free designs available to get started right off the bat.

Know how to describe your pins

Again, Pinterest is a search engine just like Google. You will have to write a description, title and alt description using keywords (terms that people search while looking up content on a topic).

Start by looking at the pins that pop up in the top of your feed. You want to write descriptions that are simple and to the point.

The easiest way to find keyword is the search bar. You can start by typing something related in your niche.

If you are looking for work at home jobs, start with a search for work from home and let pinterest fill in the rest.

What pops up will show you what people are currently searching for.

Make sure you have a business account

You need to have a business account if you want to make money with Pinterest. This is a MUST if you want to make money with partnerships, affiliate links, etc.

Business accounts are free and give you access to analytics, among other things.

Use Tailwind to schedule pins

Tailwind is a marketing app that is approved by Pinterest to be used with the platform. It can help you with analytics, promoting Pins, and creating an effective pinning schedule.

It costs $9.99 a month, and pinners swear by it and if you use my link, you get a free month of Tailwind

Have a press or media kit

Media kit is an extremely important thing to have if you want to collaborate with businesses.

Media kit is basically a one pager to tell people what you can offer their business and the important stats.

You can use Canva for your media kit too, and it should include:

  • A short bio about you and your business
  • A list of your services
  • Number of impressions and/or following
  • Information about your audience

Always be transparent about your partnerships

If you are using an affiliate link or doing a sponsored posts, you have to let your audience know.

The FTC has clear guidelines about this. All you have to do is use a simple #affiliate or #affiliatelink in the text of your pins to fulfil the regulations.

Follow Pinterest’s guidelines and best practices

You can find Pinterest’s Community Guidelines here, and it’s for both business account owners and personal users. Do follow them.

Learn about changes to the platform

Pinterest is a dynamic platform and it keeps changing a lot. To learn about, keep updated with their blogs as well as Tailwind updates.

CREATING A KILLER PINTEREST ACCOUNT

The first step in making money with Pinterest is to create a killer account.

If you want to master Pinterest, you need to go through being a beginner and learn things first hand.

The only way to accelerate the process is to invest in at least 1-2 courses and learn from people who have mastered Pinterest.

UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS OF PINTEREST

Start by learning the basics.

There are boards and pins.

Pins are individual pictures that you pin to a board. Board is a collection of related pictures. For example, a board is “DIY CRAFT PROJECTS” and a pin is about making DIY candles. Get it?

On a board, you should pin your pins (the one that goes to your blog, product, etc) as well as popular pins from other pinners in your niche.

A good collection of pins on a board will help you gain followers and force them to re-visit your page – thereby – becoming a loyal follower.

You are better off with quality pins and fewer boards than making everything mediocre and ugly.

If you can work on creating a lot of boards, all full of great pins, then you’re really taking off.

STRENGTHENING YOUR PINTEREST ACCOUNT

You should always pick up a niche you know something (more) about. This is because hobby blogs and passion projects do really well.

You can share your first hand experience with people and they are likely to trust you more. Speak from your own personal experience – it brings a level of trust and expertise to the subject that makes readers/viewers comfortable.

With a niche you are comfortable with and have experience in, you are also likely to be able to help your audience in a much better fashion.

This will get you return visitors, re-pins, and people sharing your boards with their groups.

This is the secret of strenghtening your Pinterest account

GREAT TOOLS FOR PINTEREST

Once you are a little comfortable with Pinterest, I have recommendation for tools that will make everything easier for you.

You can take their free Canva tutorial so you can get the most of the tool.

Let me just add one more thing – You do not need to be a graphic designer or even tech savvy to take advantage of Canva.

The Tailwind App is a great tool for scheduling pins.

It will take a few tutorials to get a hang of it but it is an incredible time saver. It allows you to schedule out hundreds of pin in just a few hours.

Automating the process is a major time saver that lets you put out quality content in less time.

You can also use Tribes. They are just like group boards but with a stricter rule of sharing other peoples pin.
