Internet scoping School Review 2023: Legit or Scam?

Before we review Internet Scoping School, let’s just brush over basics. What is scoping?

If I had to sum it up in one sentence, Scoping is doing the editing for court reporters.

Let’s go bit into details –

We all know that court reporters use steno writers to record or write down court proceedings.

Considering the process of typing out the proceedings is really fast (at 180 words per minute), errors are bound to happen. The final document has to be perfect and without any error.

Once the proceedings are over, they import the notes into a transcription software which translates the notes into English.

It is after this process, the court reporters hire a scopist. The basic job of a scopist is to help them with editing.

Scopists listen to audio recordings of the proceedings and check them against the written transcripts of court and deposition transcripts to correct errors.

These errors could be anything – Misunderstood words, mistranslated words, even complete gaps to punctuations and grammar.

If you are looking to money correcting grammars and punctuations only, check out this free training on how to become a proofreader and find online proofreading jobs for beginners.

Court reporters are paid for each page they process and when they hire a scopist, the process picks up speed and they are able to earn more money.

Basically, scopists help court reporters make more money and hence, they are important.

To sum it up, court reporters use Scopists to edit transcripts.

Note: You can take up general transcription and make just as much money. Learn how to become a transcriptionist and places to find transcription jobs.

Of course.

The court cases are on a rise everyday which means the demand for scopists is only going to rise.

Court reporters, for a long long time, are going to hire scopists on a regular basis.

While Scoping does not require you to have any degree or experience, it is a work at home job not meant for everyone.

Scoping is definitely not a get rich quick scheme. It is a business and just like everything else – it will take time to grow.

So, who can be a successful scopist? Ask yourself –

  • Do you have good English grammar and punctuation skills?
  • Are you responsible and dependable? (You will have rush jobs a lot of times and will be expected to deliver on time.)
  • Can you handle the potentially disturbing information that could be a part of the transcript you’re proofing?
  • Are you comfortable with reading, researching, and learning technical terms as you work on a transcript?

If you love the sound of all the above, you are good to go and become a scopist.

If you think it is too much for you, you can instead sign up for this free course on general transcription.

If you have no idea whether or not scoping is for you, grab these freebies and find the most suitable work at home service for you

Scopists, especially the ones who are really good, can make a full time living with it.

While most scopists earn between $1 – 1.25 per page, you will start out lower.

As a brand new Scopist you have the possibility to make $30,000 per year.

With more experience, you can make as much as $50,000 to $60,000 per year!

If you want to become a scopist, you have to learn the tricks before starting out. It is not a job you can learn while on the job.

You have to know what you are doing right from the start. If you make even one mistake, court reporters will stop working with you.

And, remember – a lot works with the word of mouth. If you burn bridges with one court reporter, a lot many others won’t work with you as well.

They will never send another transcript your way, or refer you on to other reporters.

So, now to do now. I have got you covered and I will now talk about Internet Scoping School.

No, you cannot. JUST KIDDING.

Of course, you can but it comes along with certain conditions.

You can earn a full time income as a scopist only if

  • You have excellent English skills
  • You take full advantage of the training and the trainer
  • You are ready to work hard
  • You treat scoping like a business

If all this sounds good to you, you can become a scopist who earns $30000 and more a year.

According to Linda, really good scopists can earn up to $6,000 per month (approx. $72000+) if they have a heavy workload.

Remember, it takes time to reach that income level and you won’t earn as much when you start.

If you become a scopist, you can

  • Work from anywhere. It is one of the best flexible online jobs available today
  • Earn a full time income working on your laptop
  • Be in total control of your destiny
