Around 40% of people aged 65 or older have memory ailments owing to their age. Forgetting names becomes common regardless of how much you try to remember them.

Your memory works slower. You meet someone new, and their name slips your mind seconds later. You run into an old friend but struggle to recall their name.

It is expected that your joints ache and throb with everyday activities. Joints may also lose their flexibility, and arthritis sets in with passing age. Knees, hips, back, and shoulders also hurt while moving around. When you bend over, lift heavy stuff, or take a walk for too long, your body stiffens up and starts to sore.

The more you age, the more difficult it gets to stay at temperatures that are warmer or cooler than a certain point. One minute, you’re bundled in a blanket; the next, you’re sweating heavily. As you get older, your body has a harder time regulating its temperature. Your shifting hormones and poorer circulation are the root causes of these ups and downs.

Injuries happen more often. At the same time, it takes longer for you to heal. That sprained ankle or the sore back you used to disregard when you were younger now sticks around for weeks.

Your sex drive doesn’t stay the same owing to hormonal changes. Getting older typically means less interest in and energy for sex.

This holds especially for women whose perimenopause starts in their 40s. Emotional closeness and affection begin to replace intensity and frequency.
