BACK STORY

The original poster ( OP ) and her boyfriend have been together for 3 and a half years. OP has been jumping from one job to another while OP’s boyfriend has been unemployed due to health issues that affected his performance at work.
Usually, OP handles rent, bills, groceries, etc., and she uses her credit card to make any purchase she wants.
HE ASKED FOR THE CREDIT CARD

The previous week, her boyfriend, out of nowhere, asked for her credit card. OP questioned why since she was the one who handles payments and supermarket trips.
OP’s boyfriend told her that he wanted to buy some food, and OP agreed to let him take it but told him to return it later.
HE REFUSED TO RETURN IT

OP says that her boyfriend got back later, and when OP asked about her credit card, he acted clueless. OP initially thought he was joking. So OP told him to give it back.
But OP’s boyfriend said that he’d keep it with him.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT

OP asked why, and he said so he could start handling paying for stuff on POPE’s behalf.
OP felt uncomfortable, and she said that she would rather not burden him with that stuff, and OP asked him to hand over the credit card. He refused and said he would keep it with him since it didn’t have much money anyway.
HE ASKED HER TO TRUST HIM

OP was livid. OP tried to argue, but he asked her to trust him, let him keep it, and swore he wouldn’t spend a penny on it.
The next morning, OP canceled it, then registered a new one. OP says that he must’ve tried to use it because he called and was confused, asking why the credit card was not valid anymore.
SHE LET HIM KNOW THAT SHE HAD CANCELED IT

OP told him it was because she canceled it and registered a new one.
OP’s boyfriend lost it and started scolding OP, saying he couldn’t believe she had this level of petty and kept on about how she doesn’t trust him with her finances. And how financially abusive she has become lately.
She says that she hung up on him.
ARGUMENT CONTINUED

The argument continued at home, and OP’s boyfriend called her paranoid and unreasonable and all that. Then he started cold-shouldering OP and sulking about it for days.
OP does feel like she hurt his feelings and showed an amount of distrust toward him.
